Guy is the President of M.E. Wilson Company, Inc., Tampa's oldest privately-held insurance agency founded by his maternal grandfather in 1920. Guy was chosen as the 2003 "Outstanding Business Leader of the Year" by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. M.E. Wilson Company won the "Small Business of the Year" in 2000 and was voted one of the "Top 30 agencies in the U.S." each year for the last six (6) years by the Independent Insurance Agents of America. King is a founder of MEW Custom Staffing, LLC, the most successful marketer of human capital services in the country.
Guy is an active community leader and problem solver. He served as Vice Chair of the board of the Allegany Franciscan Ministries in Clearwater for several years. Guy is a past-chairman and current trustee of the Tampa Metropolitan YMCA, past chair of "The Committee of 100", The Mayor's Beautification Program, and St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, where he lead the campaign to build the Critical Care Center . Guy was one of the founders of "The Producers", the first community support group at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and was the Chairman of the TBPAC Annual Campaign for two years. King exercised his organizational skills as the Chairman of the nationally recognized Gasparilla "Parade of Pirates" for three years in the 90's.
Guy is a native Tampan. Born here in 1949, he attended the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1971 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.
